Payroll/Benefits Specialist
Health, Dental, Vision, and FSA Benefits begin the 1st of the month following 30 days. 401(k) with company match, vacation, life, and disability insurance benefits are available as well.
Position Summary:The Payroll/Benefits Specialist will process bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls and maintain employee records. They will also assist with administering all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, FSA, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and 401(k) plans.
Duties/Responsibilities:- Enters, maintains, and/or processes routine employee maintenance information in the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) (Paylocity)
- Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, wage garnishments, and other deductions
- Is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls, as well as the distribution of live paychecks generated
- Ensures the accuracy of all benefit enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information
- Assists with the benefit open enrollment process
- Assists employees with the enrollment process at the time of eligibility and during qualifying life event changes
- Performs quality checks of benefits-related data through monthly invoice process and reconciliation
- Provide reports bi-weekly/monthly to Accounting and other departments as needed
- Responds to benefit inquiries from employees on plan provisions, benefit enrollments, status changes, vacation, PTO, and other general inquiries
- Responds to 401(k) inquiries from employees relating to enrollment, plan changes, and contribution amounts
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of Human Resource files and records
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills with V-Lookup experience
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software—knowledge of Paylocity a plus
- Extensive knowledge of employee payroll, benefits, and applicable laws
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proactive with the ability to problem-solve
- Bilingual a plus
- Associate degree in HR or related field—experience or other training/certification may be substituted for the degree
- Payroll Certification such as CPP or CBP a plus
- Five years’ experience in payroll or benefit administration
